CM Zoramthanga of Mizoram said that PM Modi won’t share the stage with him during his campaign

When Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits Mizoram to campaign for the upcoming assembly elections, Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga declared on Monday that they would not share the platform.

On October 30, PM Modi is set to go to Mamit town in the state’s western region to support the BJP candidates.

“All Mizoram residents are Christians. The Mizos were vehemently opposed to the proposal when the Meities of Manipur set fire to hundreds of churches. Being sympathetic to the BJP at this time would be a major negative for my party, Zoramthanga told BBC News.

“It will be better if the prime minister comes alone and he shares the platform by himself, and I take the stage separately by myself,” he said.

The MNF of Zoramthanga is a partner of the NDA at the Center and a member of the BJP-led North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA). In Mizoram, the party does not collaborate with the BJP.

The MNF joined the NDA and NEDA, according to the chief minister, because it is utterly opposed to the Congress and does not want to be a part of any coalition headed by it.

According to Zoramthanga, the Mizoram government is following the Center’s lead in providing sanctuary to migrants from Myanmar, Bangladesh, and Manipur.

“The Indian government assisted the East Pakistani refugees and even provided them with weapons to help them achieve independence. We just provide the Myanmarese refugees food and shelter out of humanitarian concerns; we don’t equip them, he stated.

In the state are finding refuge more than 40,000 migrants from Myanmar, Bangladesh, and Manipur.

According to Zoramthanga, the Center must provide peace to Manipur so that residents may return to their home state.

On November 7, Mizoram will hold elections for its 40-member legislature, and on December 3, the results will be tallied.
