Congress leaders are waiting longer for a Ludhiana candidate in the LS elections

District Congress officials and members are now anxiously expecting the announcement of the party high command’s candidate from this area, since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has declared Ravneet Singh Bittu as its candidate from Ludhiana.

Everyone in the group is excited to watch who Bittu will face off against—the guy with whom they used to stroll hand in hand—in the next election.

Senior leaders are vying for the party ticket, and the competition is becoming fierce. Numerous prominent Congressmen, including Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Sanjay Talwar, Rakesh Pandey, Surinder Dawar, and Gurdev Singh Lapran, are now in the public eye. Following Bittu’s BJP membership, his cousin Gurkirat Kotli’s name has also begun to circulate.

One of the most formidable candidates from Ludhiana, Sanjay Talwar, the president of the District Congress Committee (Urban), said that after Bittu’s exit from the party, the district unit had asked the high command to choose a candidate from Ludhiana. “Everyone will give their complete support to whoever is selected to run for the seat. We have nine party leaders from Ludhiana,” he said.

He went on to say it is a sad state of things that people are changing political parties so close to the polls. “Only voters can make such leaders learn a lesson by abstaining from voting for them,” the speaker said.

Rakesh Pandey, a senior politician and six-time member of parliament from Ludhiana North, has also declared his candidacy. “As one of the most senior leaders from Ludhiana, let’s see who the party selects for the other positions. We will accept the decision made by the high leadership, he said.

Four-time president of the District Congress Committee (Rural), Gurdev Singh Lapran, stated he had not previously claimed the ticket but that he had now done so after Bittu’s exit from the party. “Everyone was rooting for Bittu, but he unexpectedly left the party, and now even I want to take him on. I got the backing of the rural sector and served as both the sarpanch and a member of the zila parishad. I will fully support the candidate who is given the chance by the party, even if I am not selected. He said, “The party is united, and we want to defeat turncoats.”

Following Bittu’s party move, a party insider claimed to have heard that Kotli was also running. Despite Kotli’s denial, she will comply with the decision made by the group.

Following Bittu’s exit, a top local Congress official said that the party leadership need to announce the candidate quickly since everyone was eager to find out. He said, “The workers want to know the name of the leader who will be contesting from Ludhiana because they are ready to plan the strategy.”
