Delhi University reports that students’ union elections will take place on September 22

The institution stated on Thursday that the elections for the Delhi institution Students’ Union will take place on September 22.

After a four-year break, elections for the student body are being conducted. 2019 saw the last round of elections for the student union.

owing to Covid-19, the elections could not be conducted in 2020 or 2021, and they could not have been held in 2022 owing to potential delays to the academic calendar.

According to a Delhi University circular, September 12 is the deadline for submitting nomination papers, their review, and the publishing of the list of nominated candidates.

September 13 is the deadline for withdrawing submissions and publishing the final list of candidates.

According to the circular, daytime students may vote from 8:30 am to 1 pm and evening students from 3 pm to 7:30 pm.

It further said that the time, date, and location for the vote-counting would be disclosed later.

The primary representative organization for the majority of colleges and faculties is the Delhi University Students’ Union. Additionally, each institution has a unique students’ union, for which elections are conducted each year.

The college elections are held concurrently with those for the student government at the institution. For the almost 500 positions up for election, over 2,500 students run.

A lakh students participate in the polls, which serve as a launching pad for aspiring politicians.

Student organizations applauded the university’s announcement of the election’s date.

The ABVP said that the upcoming students’ union elections will once again provide the student body at Delhi University with favorable representation.
