Congress’s High Stakes in Kerala
Kerala has always been a Congress party stronghold, with the UDF commanding a sizable portion of the voter base. But the Communist Party of India (Marxist), which leads the governing Left Democratic Front (LDF), has been working hard to erode the support base of the UDF.

In a few targeted seats, the BJP—which has been attempting to increase its influence in the southern state—is also anticipated to mount a fierce defense. Union Minister V Muraleedharan is running for the Thiruvananthapuram seat, while the party’s candidate in Thrissur is actor-turned-politician Suresh Gopi.

Raul Gandhi’s campaign travel is anticipated to improve the Congress party’s chances in Kerala, where a high-stakes contest is about to begin. All eyes will be on Kerala politics in the next few weeks as the Lok Sabha elections approach their conclusion.
