Examining for the Karnataka Civil Service, female students were asked to “remove” Mangalsutra

Before entering the test room for the Karnataka civil service examination, female candidates were instructed to take off their “mangalsutra.” According to report, the state Public Service Commission, which was in charge of the test, had also reportedly requested that the students take off additional jewelry, such as chains, toe rings, and earrings.

One of the girls said that while she was ordered to take off her mangalsutra, the officials only checked ladies wearing headscarves before allowing them to enter the test room.According to the student, the mangalsutra is optional in Hindu culture and may be taken off as needed. “When necessary, we will take them out. I took off my toe ring and mangalsutra before entering. The student told the news agency, “They should have checked us and allowed us inside, just like they checked for hijabs and allowed them.”

MLA for the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), Basangouda Yatnal, questioned if the action was “only for Hindus” in response to the occurrence.

This occurs only a few days after an applicant who showed up for a Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) recruitment test was detained on suspicion of cheating during the competitive exam. Trimurthy, the accused, was taken into custody on Saturday in Kalaburagi along with his brother Ambarish and three other people. As to the Times of India, a FIR was filed at Ashok Nagar police station against Trimurthy, Ambarish, RD Patil (the mastermind behind the PSI recruiting fraud), and three other individuals. The event took place at the test center of Sharanabasaveshwara University.

Trimurthy, a resident of Afzalpur Taluk’s Sonna hamlet, was apprehended carrying a Bluetooth device. Using the gadget, his brother, who was seated in a vehicle outside the testing center, had been giving him responses. According to the accused, RD Patil assisted in sending the responses. The FIR was filed by Shilpa Channaveer Chikki, the examination supervisor.
