For the benefit of pilgrims, the Mathura Administration will need E-Rickshaw registration as of April 1

In order to prevent operators from taking advantage of and harassing pilgrims, the district government in the temple town of Mathura has made the registration of e-rickshaws obligatory, according to authorities.

The programme would begin on April 1 and would be executed in stages.

"The regulation will first be implemented for e-rickshaws operating on the Govardhan Parikrama route. On the Parikrama road, only 400 e-rickshaws with valid registration numbers would be permitted to operate "SDM Govardhan Kamlesh Goel, a sub-divisional magistrate, stated.

Every e-rickshaw operating on the Parikrama route shall have a readable tariff list for various distances, as well as a properly indicated police phone number and registration number.

The technology, according to the official, will be implemented on e-rickshaws operating on the roughly 22-km-long Govardhan Parikrama route in the first phase, with additional locations receiving coverage in subsequent stages.

Many devotees who do Govardhan Parikrama (the action or ritual of circumambulating an object of devotion in a clockwise direction as a sign of respect) travel the whole distance on foot. Yet, some older and elderly persons use the e-rickshaw service.

Drivers will also be subject to a clothing code and get an identification token, according to authorities.
