Governors in opposition-ruled states meddle; Stalin is correct to call for Ravi’s dismissal, says Sibal

Kapil Sibal, a Rajya Sabha member, said on Monday that governors in states where the opposition is in power “destabilize and interfere” as he supported Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin’s call for the resignation of Governor R N Ravi.

Stalin said that Ravi “instigates communal hatred” and is a “threat” to Tamil Nadu’s peace in a letter to President Droupadi Murmu.

The CM emphasized in his letter that “Ravi is fit to be removed from the high office” because “the Governor has proved to be partial and ineligible to hold the office of Governor by way of his behavior and action.” Ambedkar on Governors:…stated “functionary…a purely ornamental functionary…no power of interference in administration,” Sibal remarked in response to the development.

“Governors in opposition-ruled states: 1) have a Hindutva agenda; 2) destabilize and interfere with domestic affairs” 3) promote hatred. Ravi should be fired, as Stalin is correct to demand, the former Union minister tweeted.

Sibal, who served as a Union minister under UPAs 1 and 2, left the Congress in May of last year and received support from the Samajwadi Party to be elected as an Independent to the Rajya Sabha. He most recently put out the non-electoral platform “Insaaf,” which aims to combat injustice.
