“Govt failure”: Leaders of the opposition attack the BJP over Pendu Manch’s allegation of non-development

The opposition attacked Chandigarh Pendu Vikas Manch on Sunday, alleging it had BJP members, only a day after the Manch said that the people of 22 villages would vote for NOTA if development was not carried out in their respective regions.

Former member of parliament for Chandigarh and prominent Congressman Pawan Kumar Bansal remarked in a news release that “it is an admission of failure by the BJP.” He attacked Senior Deputy Mayor of the BJP among other BJP officials, accusing them of having “cheated” 2.5 lakh people by acknowledging that no development work had been done in the villages in the previous ten years.

“To teach the BJP a lesson, I’m making a call to all 22 villages in the UT to collectively hit the Congress button. The settlements would once again be placed on a path of growth, he said.

Prem Lata, an AAP councillor, said it was odd that despite this forum’s designation as a non-political entity, many of its associates were BJP members. Why has this forum been quiet for the last several years? The platform has established a committee to address locals’ concerns as elections draw closer,” she added. Congressman Harmail Kesari said that creating a forum would not be helpful since the villagers were aware of the BJP’s “double standards.”

In the meanwhile, the Senior Deputy Mayor said in a statement that he was not present at the forum today. Hukam Chand, the former Sarpanch of Khuda Lahora and the general secretary of the BJP, also said, “We have no connection with the forum.” Because the BJP is carrying out many development projects in the area, every villager will vote for them.
