Haryana Diary: Social worker is rebuffed by the minister

Hisar: The controversy surrounding the purported rejection of social worker Yograj Sharma by local BJP MLA Kamal Gupta, the Health Minister, is far from done. In a video that went viral on social media, Gupta warned Sharma and declined to take a bouquet. When questioned about the event, the Health Minister did not offer any regrets. He questioned, “Why should I accept a bouquet from a man who is always critical of my work?” noting that Sharma was critical of the work being done to rehabilitate Town Park. Gupta said, “I wanted to make it into one of the most gorgeous parks in the state.”

Khattar’s remark becomes the talk of the town.

Sonepat: Manohar Lal Khattar, the BJP candidate and former chief minister, was seen smiling while speaking to party members in the Panipat rural seat. After seeing a few individuals standing, Khattar motioned for them to take a seat in the gallery. Khattar commented on the kursi as State Minister Mahipal Dhanda was seated on a chair on the platform. The former Chief Minister said that sometimes individuals are forced to get up from their chairs and are left standing while the person who was given the chair is seated. At this, Dhanda got up from his chair and stood with the others. Among those in attendance, the episode generated a lot of laughter and rumors.

There are no unwavering allies or adversaries in politics

Rohtak: It’s true that in politics, friends and enemies are ephemeral. Previously criticizing the Congress, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and CPM are now members of the INDIA bloc. At a recent combined workers’ gathering held in Rohtak, the leaders of the three parties took the stage together and vowed to support one another in the Lok Sabha elections. The BJP and JJP, on the other hand, have broken up, but their political competitors claim that they are still pursuing shared goals and that their split is really a ploy to deceive people. Though this is the current state of affairs in the political environment leading up to the general election, it is still unclear what will transpire in the Assembly elections.

Jihadists mock Jindal for joining the BJP

Kurukshetra: The Opposition began troll-ing the local BJP unit by sharing old recordings and remarks made by party officials disparaging the former MP shortly after the BJP declared Naveen Jindal’s candidacy for the Kurukshetra Lok Sabha seat. The BJP has been charged by the AAP, Congress, and INLD for abusing investigating agencies to its advantage during the election campaign. A top BJP representative said that the party will support Jindal even if the public, including party members, were voicing concerns and the opposition parties were focusing on them. The high command made the choice on Jindal.

Receptions as opposed to political developments

Faridabad: The General Election voting date is still almost seven weeks away, and the campaign hasn’t started to take up steam yet. Supporters’ gatherings are more like get-togethers than official political events when it comes to the greeting or reception of candidates or potential candidates. An activist with the governing party said, “We have been asked to organize such gatherings on a regular basis so that it paves the way for speeding up the campaign by the date of filing the nominations.” He said that party officials and staff were repeating the catchphrase that a “bigger margin” would ensure victory at every event of this kind. “This is being done in order to boost the morale and enthusiasm of the workers and supporters,” he said.

Former MLA back in the spotlight

Yamunanagar: Former Legislator Arjun Singh is making headlines once again. In Chandigarh, he just joined the Congress when former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda was present, having previously quit the BSP. He quit the JJP a few months ago in order to join the BSP in October 2023. Singh was elected as an MLA from the Chhachhrauli Assembly constituency (now a part of the Jagadhri Assembly seat) in 2005 while running on the BSP ticket. He could fight AAP leader Adarsh Pal Singh, a candidate for the party ticket, and Agriculture Minister and Jagadhri MLA Kanwar Pal Gujjar if he manages to get the Congress ticket for the Jagadhri Assembly seat. All three are members of the Gurjar community, which makes up a significant portion of Jagadhri’s voting base.
