Haryana Roads uses other routes in order to prevent losses

Following the cancellation of bus service on lengthy routes to Punjab and Himachal Pradesh due to the farmers’ protest, the state roads department has chosen to operate buses to Uttar Pradesh.

Due to roadblocks, bus service to many long-distance locations in Punjab, Jammu, and Himachal has been stopped for the last ten or so days. According to sources in the Transport Department, the local roads depot has chosen to go to UP in order to make up for the financial loss resulting from the closure of the customary routes. According to them, 25 bus’ operations are impacted by the service outage on the routes of Amritsar, Hamirpur, Baijnath, Dharamshala, Chandigarh, and Jammu.

A local named Vishnu Goel claims that people have experienced difficulties due to having to use trains or private automobiles as a consequence of the roads to Punjab, Himachal, and Chandigarh being closed. According to a department official, hundreds of individuals who formerly traveled to Punjab and Himachal on a monthly basis for leisure or professional trips have had difficulties.

By using existing busses, the agency has expanded its service to lengthy routes like as those to Aligarh, Agra, Lucknow, and Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh. Lekhraj, the depot’s general manager, said, “The department has been able to maintain the tempo of daily revenue generation at the same level or even more due to the recovery level of Rs 30 per km or higher.”

According to him, buses to Aligarh recovered around Rs 62 per mile in income, compared to between Rs 35 and Rs 37 for the Chandigarh route.
