Himachal Cabinet denounces Centre for attempting to “destabilize” government

Today, the Cabinet chastised the Central Administration for supposedly trying to topple the democratically elected Congress administration by means of the official apparatus.

Under the direction of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the Cabinet convened and denounced the BJP for allegedly deploying dark tactics to undermine the democratic process. It reiterated its complete confidence in Sukhu’s leadership and decided to tell the Himachal Pradesh public of the BJP’s intentions.

The Cabinet was making reference to the employment of Haryana Police and CRPF troops to allow three independent MLAs and six Congress rebels to enter the Vidhan Sabha on February 28, the day the budget was supposed to be enacted. In the Rajya Sabha elections, the day before, six Congress MLAs had cast their votes in favor of BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan.

The Cabinet also requested that the Central Government disburse Rs 9,043 crore immediately for the post-disaster requirement assessment (PDNA), because it had been calculated in accordance with the guidelines.

It made the decision to hire 2,401 SMC instructors on a contract basis via restricted direct recruitment. According to government policy, these instructors’ services will be regularized when the allotted time has passed. Additionally, it approved the filling of 985 Lecturer (Computer Science) positions. The suggestion of a Cabinet subcommittee led by Education Minister Rohit Thakur, which was tasked with investigating the problems pertaining to SMC and computer instructors, was the basis for the decision.

One of the electoral promises was fulfilled when the Cabinet authorized the distribution of Rs 1,500 per month to qualified women in the 18–60 age range under the Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi plan. Additionally, it resolved to designate the Chamba, Saho Jatar, and Suhi Mela as district-level fairs.

It resolved to rationalize the Forest Department’s engineering workforce and promote qualified staff members in accordance with the norms governing hiring and advancement, contingent upon open positions. After that, the borrowing departments may be able to use their services.

In the Jawalamukhi region of the Kangra district, in Bhadoli, a sub-tehsil was established with approval from the Cabinet. Additionally, it approved the building of a primary health center (PHC) at Pihari in the Jawalamukhi region of Kangra district and a community health center at Darlaghat in the Solan district.

The elevation of a medical physicist position to Assistant Professor of Medical Physics in the Department of Radiotherapy at IGMC, Shimla, was approved by the Cabinet. Additionally, it resolved to establish a single assistant professor position at the Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College in Tanda, Kangra, Department of Cardiology.
