Hyderabad comes to a complete stop due to heavy rain

Hyderabad was completely shut down on Thursday afternoon due to a two-hour period of intense rain, leaving people stuck, traffic gridlocked, roads flooded, and several power outages.

The Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) reports that the following districts had measurements: Khariatabad in Hyderabad recorded 90.3 mm, Shaikpet 87.5 mm, Amberpet 85.3 mm, Nampally 83 mm, Nalgonda district 102.8 mm, and Nagarkurnool district 101 mm.

The majority of arterial roads and lanes were flooded, making it hard for traffic to move freely, and the rain caused commuters to struggle with traffic bottlenecks at key intersections. From early afternoon to late evening, most of the city had power disruptions, according to reports.

Utilizing the suffering of the populace, taxi aggregators drastically raised rates. The lengthy wait period offered little respite, however, for those prepared to shell out the outrageous sums.

R Malathi was traveling from Shaikpet to Rajendranagar and was charged a fee that was far more than what she would have paid on a regular day. She had to wait an hour to obtain a taxi.

Another commuter, Rajesh, said he scheduled an auto to go to work after parking his two-wheeler at a gas station. But there were always traffic bottlenecks, so it seemed like the trip would never finish.

People also vented their suffering on the social networking site “X” about various problems, such as power outages, flooded streets, and being stuck in the rain. ~
