After searching his home in the morning, the Enforcement Directorate detained Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh on Wednesday in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy case.
The authorities said that during the operation, locations belonging to several other people involved in the investigation were also covered.
The 51-year-old Rajya Sabha MP’s employees and individuals connected to him have already been questioned by the ED.
There are claims that the Delhi government’s excise policy for 2021–22, which awards licenses to alcohol sellers, may have fostered cartel-like behavior and favored certain dealers who are said to have offered bribes in exchange for these rights. These accusations are categorically denied by the AAP.
The policy was soon abandoned, and the lieutenant governor of Delhi suggested a CBI investigation. The ED then filed a complaint under the PMLA.
