In Delhi, a neighbor kidnaps, kills, and disposes of the corpse in the sewer

May 24, New Delhi In the Kapashera neighborhood of southwest Delhi, a neighbor kidnapped and killed a 3.5-year-old child, dumping her corpse in a sewer, an official said on Friday.

According to police, who shared the specifics, at 8:51 p.m. on Wednesday, a police control room (PCR) report about the kidnapping of a little child in street No. 9, Kapashera, was received. A police squad was then sent to the location.

The mother of the victim reported to the police that she and her family had been living here in leased housing for the last five years. She reported to the police that her 3.5-year-old daughter had been abducted by Anil, a neighbor, on Wednesday at around 6 p.m.

“An extensive search was conducted to find the girl and the suspect. The crew watched CCTV video from nearby cameras, and about 7:05 p.m., one of the cameras showed the accused and the girl walking toward Ganda Nala. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest), Rohit Meena, said, “He was seen returning alone without the girl at approximately 7.25 p.m. on the same camera.

At around 11:55 p.m. on the same day, the accused, Anil (34), was located and taken into custody from a bus that was traveling to Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

During questioning, he first denied having any involvement at all in the abduction. However, after being questioned for a long time, he finally snapped and confessed to killing the little girl and throwing her into a marshy drain at the boundary between Gurugram and Kapashera.

“Anil then led the police squad to the mentioned sewer, where a large area of swampy ground, thick undergrowth, and piles of trash were searched for the girl’s corpse. The girl’s corpse was eventually discovered discarded in the marshy drain after a protracted search that lasted more than an hour in the dark, according to the DCP.

The accused even felt that this was their chance to go away. “He attempted to break free from custody by grabbing a police officer’s loaded service revolver and shooting at the police squad.” In self-defense, the police opened fire, striking the defendant. The DCP said, “He was sent to Indira Gandhi Hospital right away.

The FSL and criminal squads were called to the scene. The FSL and crime team inspected the deceased. The defendant was taken into custody by the police. The victim’s post-mortem is being performed by a medical board, the DCP said.
