In FY 2023–2024, SCR breaks records and generates income of Rs. 20K crore

The South Central Railway (SCR) broke the previous high of Rs 18,976 crore from 2022–2023 by 7% with a record Gross Originating Revenue of Rs 20,339 crore during FY 2023–2024.

The zone’s strong emphasis on satisfying passenger demand was one of the main causes of the income gain.

In order to add more trains, special trains when needed, and enhance the current trains where there was high demand, the zone implemented a system of constant demand monitoring in all directions.

6,921 more carriages were temporarily added to 117 trains during FY 2023–2024 in order to accommodate increased passenger demand. The Zone’s best-ever originating passenger profits of Rs 5,731.8 crore were made possible by these activities.

In comparison, SCR carried 262.62 million originating passengers in 2023–24 as opposed to 255.59 million in 2022–2023 at the same time.

The exceptional success seen in the freight business was another important component in the record originating profits.

With originating freight income of Rs 13,620 crore in FY 2023–24, SCR recorded its highest-ever amount and increased by 4.4% over the previous year.

In other coaching sectors, the SCR also achieved its highest income to date in 2023–2024. This covers a variety of income streams, such as package and ticket checking money.

In other coaching sectors, the zone’s 2023–24 total was Rs 512 crore, up from Rs 414.87 crore in 2022–23. Additionally, the zone reported sundry profits of Rs 474 crore, down 28% from Rs 369 crore in the previous year.
