The team from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) that is visiting the Manipur regions that have seen violence will be secured by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
A senior source informed ANI, “The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has been entrusted with the protection of CBI teams visiting different areas in Manipur for investigative purposes and gathering of evidence.
A CBI team headed by Special Director Ajay Bhatnagar arrived in Imphal on Wednesday to look into the alleged abduction and murder of two students who went missing two days earlier.
Teams must visit the crime site, recreate the scene, gather forensic evidence, and deliver it to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory in cases that have been registered with or transferred to the CBI.
The source said, “CRPF soldiers would accompany them during their travels in violence-hit regions for investigative reasons in order to guarantee swift inquiry and maintaining safety of CBI official on priority.
The viral video of two young tribal women being paraded in their underwear has been included in the 11 FIRs that the CBI has now filed. In all the situations, an investigation is being conducted.
