In Mizoram, heroin worth Rs 8.4 crore was found; no one has been caught as of yet

According to a paramilitary force official on Friday, the Assam Rifles and Mizoram police have found over 1 kilogram of heroin worth Rs 8.4 crore in the Champhai area.

The combined Assam Rifles and Mizoram police squad responded to a tip, according to the PTI report. According to an official, on Wednesday, the combined team took the heroin from a vehicle in Ngur Village, in the Champhai region of east Mizoram.

She said that the contraband was thought to have been smuggled out of Myanmar, as PTI reported.

The officer further said that no one has been taken into custody in relation to the seizure.

Earlier this month, on May 11, during a random vehicle check, 99 soap containers containing powder that was thought to be heroin were found in one car by the Mizoram Police Check-gate duty at Chalbawia Junction Khankawn.

The soap cases were hidden within the dashboard and between the panels of the four doors of the aforementioned automobile, which was traveling from Champhai towards Aizawl. The 1.110 kilogram of suspected heroin, valued at around Rs 33,30,000, were taken into custody.

An inquiry has been initiated to find the source of the contraband after the accused, Paumuansanga was taken into custody.

On May 11, 2023, Zokhawthar Police Staff and the 42nd Assam Rifles, Zokhawthar Post, carried out a cooperative operation in the vicinity of Thangkhup Kai, Zokhawthar Village. They seized suspected crystal methamphetamine totaling 3105 grms, or 3.105 kgs, valued at about Rs 9.1 crore.

An official statement said that the object in question was stored in a rucksack bag and seems to have been abandoned by an unidentified individual or individuals.

The same was taken into custody, a case was filed, and an inquiry is underway to find the owner of the medicines that were taken into custody.

Another incidence in Maharashtra saw the arrest of a 26-year-old guy by the Navi Mumbai Police, who also confiscated heroin worth over Rs 8 lakh from his possession, according to a May 21 official statement, as reported by the PTI.

The PTI reports that Ajay Jadhav, a suspected drug dealer, was taken into custody by the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the Navi Mumbai police on Monday from the Ghansoli neighborhood.

According to a police station officer in Rabale, he was discovered in possession of 54.26 grams of heroin, which had a market worth of Rs 8,13,900.
