In police detention, a guy from Noida commits himself; his family suspects foul play

A young guy in his early twenties who was taken in for interrogation as an accused in a sexual assault case on Wednesday night reportedly committed himself at a Noida police station on Thursday. This is an alleged incidence of custodial death that has surfaced from the Gautam Budh Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh.

 

The family of the deceased, Yogesh Kumar, however, claimed that the local police at the Chipiyan outpost in the Bisrakh police station area of Greater Noida had demanded a payment of Rs 5 lakh in exchange for their release.

Laxmi Singh, the commissioner of Noida Police, suspended the whole police station in response to the serious accusations made by the deceased’s family. “Everyone working at the police chowki has been suspended, with the exception of the trainee. Singh said, “A preliminary inquiry has been ordered against the SHO, ACP, and Chowki Incharge.

She said that Additional DCP Noida has been instructed to look into the event in great detail. “Anyone proven to have been careless in the situation will face severe consequences. The senior officer said that videography and a team of physicians would perform the post-mortem, and that a case was also being filed based on the family’s accusations.

The dead Kumar was accused of sexual assault by a colleague, according to DCP (Central Noida) Suniti. On Wednesday, the accused was taken into custody and summoned to the police station for interrogation.

He is said to have committed himself on Thursday around 10 a.m. by hanging himself from a rope on the barracks next to the chowki. After being carried to a local hospital, the medical staff pronounced him dead. We have standards to follow in such matters from the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), and the inquiry is still in its early stages. The sibling of the deceased informed reporters that his brother had earned between Rs 16,000 and Rs 17,000 working at a bakery. “We had Rs 53,000 in cash taken from us by police officers. “I left the chowki at 10 p.m. and returned at 6 a.m.,” he said.
