The Indian Penal Code’s Sections 341 (wrongfully restricting any person), 354 (assaulting women), 354-B (outraging woman’s modesty, employing criminal force on her), 334 (voluntarily inflicting pain on severe and unexpected provocation), and 376 (rape) have all been utilized by the police to charge all four defendants.

Three of the accused, including a youngster, are being held in custody. The charges of intimidation and molestation have been confirmed as factual after a primary inquiry. To verify rape charges, the remains were transferred for post-mortem investigation, he added.

With state elections about to be declared in the next few days, the event has ignited a new political controversy.
