“In West Bengal, Being Hindu Is A Crime”: BJP Attacks TMC Govt For “Assaulting” Sadhus In Purulia | Watch

Purulia Sadhu Attack: The BJP and the governing Trinamool Congress are at odds once again over a group of seers that a mob in West Bengal attacked. Leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party Amit Malviya took aim at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee after the viral video that seemed to show a crowd in the Purulia area allegedly beating a group of sadhus (seers).

The chairman of the BJP IT Cell said that being Hindu in West Bengal is illegal while sharing a video of the event. A mob in the Purulia is said to have stripped and attacked a bunch of sadhus in viral video.

“An absolutely terrible incidence from West Bengal’s Purulia has been reported. Sadhus traveling to Gangasagar for Makar Sankranti were stripped and thrashed by criminals connected to the governing TMC in a lynching reminiscent of Palghar,” Malviya tweeted on Friday from his official X feed.

“Under Mamata Banerjee’s government, sadhus are being lynched and terrorists like Shahjahan Sheikh are given official protection. In West Bengal, it is illegal to be a Hindu,” the BJP leader said in his statement.

Shehzad Poonawalla, the BJP spokesman, also poked fun at the TMC chief earlier today by drawing parallels between the Palghar episode and the Purulia incident. He also expressed doubts about the state of law and order under Mamata Banerjee’s direction.

Purulia in West Bengal hosted the second installment of Palghar. The TMC thugs savagely and ruthlessly beat up the saints. First Palghar took place under Uddhav Thackeray, the previous chief minister of Maharashtra. Palghar part two is currently being produced by Mamata Banerjee. Is being Hindu a crime? What state of law and order is there in West Bengal if sadhus and saints are being thrashed in this manner today? This is the frightening situation in West Bengal, according to Poonawalla, who was cited by the news agency ANI.

Sheikh Shahjahan: Who Is He?

A well-known TMC member and panchayat leader in the area, Sheikh Shahjahan is said to have fled after the assault on ED teams in Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district. While the detectives were conducting a raid on Shahjahan Sheikh and another local TMC politician, Shankar Adhya, the cops were being heckled and beaten by unidentified people. In addition to being vandalized, the event resulted in injuries to two ED personnel.

As the BJP vigorously defended the Mamata Banerjee administration, citing the breakdown of law and order in the region, the TMC said that the residents reacted in response to ‘provocation’ by the ED teams conducting raids. The searches were carried out in relation to the state’s purported ration fraud.
