India said it would “look into” the report claiming that Nijjar murder suspects will be caught in Canada shortly

In response to a report in the Canadian media stating that law enforcement has located two individuals linked to the assassination of pro-Khalistan activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, India has stated that it has given Ottawa the assurance that it will “look into” any “specific and relevant information” that is provided to New Delhi regarding the inquiry.

The Globe and Mail, citing unnamed sources, revealed on Wednesday that two people who are suspected of being involved in the June 18 killing in Surrey, British Columbia, have been “under surveillance” for several months and are anticipated to be taken into custody by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) “in a matter of weeks.”

According to the study, these people never left Canada after the murder. When charges are brought against the two individuals, “the sources said police will explain the alleged assassins’ involvement and that of the Indian government,” the site said.

Following Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s September 18 statement in the House of Commons indicating that there were “credible allegations” linking Indian operatives to the death of Najjar, diplomatic ties between India and Canada collapsed. The head of the separatist organization Sikhs for Justice, or SFJ, in the province of British Columbia, was Nijjar, who was regarded as a terrorist by India.

The indictment against Indian national Nikhil Gupta in a case involving an allegedly aborted conspiracy to assassinate SFJ general counsel Gurpatwant Pannun in November included references to his death. The case was filed in a Federal Court in New York.

India’s High Commissioner to Ottawa, Sanjay Kumar Verma, responded to the story by saying, “I’ll wait until the time the information is shared because we still don’t have any information on that.” However, we have been promising at every level that we would investigate if there is something particular and pertinent. Therefore, we will wait to assess the evidence and conduct further investigation until the Canadian authorities contact us and provide us with the information they possess.

India has set up a high-level investigation to look into the Pannun plan, but it hasn’t done anything like in regards to Nijjar’s murder.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, or IHIT, is looking into the murder. The two “heavy-set” and masked suspects in the homicide were driven away in a 2008 silver Toyota Camry, while a third individual was responsible for operating the getaway car, according to an August report from IHIT. Additionally, a blurry photo of the car’s driver that was taken by nearby CCTV was made public.
