Inflation could not be controlled by the center: Daljit Singh Cheema

Today, Deputy Commissioner-cum-returning officer Vishesh Sarangal’s office received the nomination papers for Daljit Singh Cheema (SAD) and Amansher Singh Sherry Kalsi (AAP).

With just a small group of his supporters, Cheema proceeded to the RO’s office, while Kalsi organized a roadshow from his Assembly seat in Batala, which is 35 miles distant. Before coming into the city to submit his paperwork, he also made a few visits to houses of worship.

Speaking during a news conference, Cheema highlighted the accomplishments of the SAD administration, which held office from 2007 to 2017. He also blasted the opposition parties, accusing them of being preoccupied with advancing their own agendas, which were obviously motivated by the leaders’ own self-interest. “An abnormal increase in the prices of petrol, diesel, and cooking gas,” he said, was the BJP’s fault.

He attacked the AAP-led Punjab government, claiming that it was to blame for the widespread young migration of Punjabis abroad because the “state government failed to provide jobs.” He continued by saying that none of the seven AAP Rajya Sabha MPs brought up the state’s issues in Parliament. “Not a single RS MP spoke against the BJP-led Central government when Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED),” said Cheema.
