Islamic Resistance Council took responsibility for the Mangaluru attack, warned ADGP

Almost inadvertently, the organization "Islamic Resistance Council" (IRC) is reported to have claimed responsibility for the November 19 blast in Mangaluru. The IRC is also reported to have said that its 'Mujahid brother Mohammad Shariq' had attempted to attack a Hindu temple at Qadri'.

Police sources said they were verifying the source of the information, while top police officers remained tight-lipped. The message circulated on social media said, “We Islamic Resistance Council (IRC) would like to convey the message – One of our mujahid brothers, Mohd. Of. It further added, "Though the operation was not successful, we consider it a strategic success as despite being chased by state and central intelligence agencies, Bhai managed to evade them and prepare for the attack." and got it done.

Sharik, 24, a resident of Tirthahalli in Karnataka's Shivamogga district, was traveling in an autorickshaw carrying a pressure cooker bomb fitted with a detonator, wire, and battery when it exploded. He got scorched in this blast and is undergoing treatment at City Hospital. The auto driver was also injured in the blast. The police have termed the blast as a terrorist incident.
