Jammu IED Recovery: 'We were on high alert', IG Mukesh Singh said - had already received input of terrorist attack
When the IED was seized in Jammu during the second anniversary of Pulwama Alert, the police officer said that their teams were on high alert on Sunday. Police said they had received inputs that they were plotting a major terror attack on the second anniversary of the Pulwama attack, as an improvised Explosive Device (IED) was recovered near the bus stand in Jammu a day earlier.
A senior officer said that in this case two people have been arrested (Arrest), while another terrorist has been arrested in Jammu and Samba in the case of seizure of IEDs. Addressing the press conference, Jammu IG Mukesh Singh said that the police were on high alert as they had input of the terrorist attack. They had received the news that the terrorists were plotting a major attack on the second anniversary of the Pulwama attack. He said that on Saturday night he arrested a person named Sohail and 6-6.5 kg IED was recovered from his possession.
'Police was already on high alert'
IG Mukesh Singh said that Sohail revealed during interrogation that he had placed explosives at the behest of Pakistan's organization al-Badr. He told that he is a student of Narsingh College, Chandigarh. Pakistan's al-Badr organization instructed him to apply explosives in Jammu and many other places.
'Four targets met to hold IED'
Police said the man, who hails from Pulwama district, was arrested on Sunday and revealed that he was told to keep explosives at three to four places. The senior police officer said during the briefing that a person named Qazi Wasim in Chandigarh was also aware of the matter.
The police officer said that Sohail had received a message from Pakistan that he had to keep the IED here and through that message three four targets were given to contain the IED, which included Raghunath temple, bus stand, railway station and Lakhdata Bazar. After this, he had to take a flight to Srinagar. After this, I was to meet a man named Athar Shakeel in Srinagar. Information about this work was with another boy in Chandigarh, whose name is Qazi Wasim. He too has been taken into custody from Chandigarh. Also arrested a Hafid Navi.
'Weapons getting from Pakistan'
Before this incident, two more big terrorists were arrested in the valley recently. Terrorist Zahoor Ahmed Rath was wanted in the murder of three BJP workers and the murder of a police officer in South Kashmir in 2020. He was arrested on Saturday in Samba district. While Lashkar-e-Mustafa commander Hidayatullah Malik was arrested on 6 February.
Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh said during the briefing that Malik revealed that many people have been deployed in Jammu to spread terrorism, they get weapons from Pakistan, after which they are sent to Kashmir and other areas.
