Joe Biden admitted as much. Piyush Goyal’s key takeaway from his conversation with US President

At the welcoming ceremony for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) on Thursday, US President Joe Biden and Union Minister Piyush Goyal met.

The Union minister of trade and industry said on social media site “X” that “meeting @POTUS at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) welcome reception yesterday was an honor.”

Subsequently, Piyush Goyal informed news agency ANI that Joe Biden had wished Prime Minister Narendra Modi a happy birthday and said the nations that suffer the most from environmental deterioration are those who were not initially at fault.

“I saw him last night, and he did admit that the nations most affected are those that were not initially guilty for the environmental deterioration. That, in my opinion, is a very important message and a very strong validation of what India and PM Modi have been expressing at several international forums. It is evident that the world has responded favorably to Prime Minister Modi’s steadfast stance on climate change, his upbeat demeanor, and the unambiguous message he conveys at every event. As a result, India and the US have decided to collaborate closely, Goyal told ANI.

“We have launched a new fund today where the governments of both countries are going to actively contribute and we hope that this will act like a catalyst for large pools of capital to now look at and focus on investments in India.…” He said.

On Wednesday, international leaders attending the APEC Summit were invited to a welcoming event given by US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden. Goyal received an invitation to the San Francisco APEC Summit.

There are 21 members of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation alliance. India is not among them, however. It has applied to become a member of the alliance in 1991. Although most members support India’s participation, others have voiced opposition, noting the nation’s track record of economic changes and accusing it of having “protectionist instincts.” India was excluded from the grouping because to a membership freeze that was in place from 1997 to 2012 and was not renewed.

“I met H.E. Juan Carlos Mathews, the Peruvian Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism. spoke about how the discussions for a free trade agreement (FTA) between Peru and India were going,” Piyush Goyal wrote on X.

Goyal also had a meeting with Alex Rogers, President of Qualcomm Technology Licensing and Global Affairs. “Meeted Mr. Alex Rogers, Global Affairs & Technology Licensing President, Qualcomm. The Union minister wrote on X, “Discussed the tremendous opportunities for collaboration that India’s rapidly evolving semiconductor ecosystem & robust innovation landscape offers.”

Additionally, he had a meeting with Fumio Kishida, the prime minister of Japan, at the 2023 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Leaders’ Meeting.

He also went to the IPEF Investment Forum and the Partnership for Global Infrastructure Investment (PGII). US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo and US President Amos Hochstein’s top adviser were commended by Modi for their endeavor.

“Delighted to join leaders, colleagues from Indo-Pacific, and titans of global finance at the IPEF Investment Forum, sponsored by the Partnership for Global Infrastructure Investment (PGII),” Goyal said. Many thanks for this significant endeavor to US President @Amoshochstein’s senior advisor, @SecRaimondo, and US Secretary of Commerce, @SecRaimondo.”

It has enabled wonderful conversations with plenty of energy. I have high hopes for the future of India and the surrounding area. I’m happy to see that India is becoming more and more respected as a worldwide investment destination. It is a testament to PM @NarendraModi ji’s revolutionary efforts to bring about sustainable growth and development, improve business accessibility, and bring about openness in the business regulatory environment. I applaud the US Development Finance Corporation (DFC) and National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) for announcing the US-India Green Transition Fund. “I have no doubt that this catalytic fund will contribute to India’s ambitious targets for the production of renewable energy,” he said.
