“JP Nadda attempted to discredit Anurag Thakur and Prem Kumar Dhumal prior to becoming CM.”

Prem Kaushal, the top spokesman for the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC), said here Thursday that BJP national president JP Nadda was attempting to politically damage the Hamirpur district. He stated that other people were also being targeted by the BJP’s schemes against Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.

Kaushal continued, saying that Nadda has attempted to “weaken Union Minister Anurag Thakur and former CM Prem Kumar Dhumal,” who are from the area.

He described the horse trading of MLAs in the state as a well-planned plot, which led to six Congress MLAs defecting to the BJP. “This would not benefit the BJP in any way,” he said, adding that the district’s residents were aware of the six rebels’ political “greed” and their tendency to switch parties out of self-interest.

Since they had abandoned the voters who had elected them to the Vidhan Sabha only 14 months before, he predicted that the people would defeat them in byelections. According to Kaushal, “They would not be able to face voters in their constituencies.”

He said that since fewer people showed out to hear the party leaders speak, the BJP gathering at Gandhi Chowk “flopped.”

He continued by saying that the event was attended by the BJP’s senior brass, which included two BJP candidates, Union Minister Anurag Thakur, state BJP president Rajiv Bindal, and former chief minister Jai Ram Thakur. Even still, Kaushal said, the meeting was “small,” and the leaders were concerned about the subpar reaction.
