Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai tested positive for Kovid-19 on Saturday. He said that he has isolated himself at home. He gave this information on Twitter. He also informed me that his visit to New Delhi has been canceled.
Basavaraj Bommai tweeted that 'Coronavirus was tested after symptoms of mild fever and body aches. He turned out to be Corona positive and has isolated himself at home. Those who have come in contact with me in the last few days, please isolate yourself and get yourself tested. My Delhi trip has been canceled.
Bommai was to travel to New Delhi today to attend the third meeting of the National Committee on 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' and the Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog, which will be chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He was also expected to meet the BJP national leadership and discuss the recent developments in the state and preparations for the 2023 assembly elections.
On Friday, CM Bommai participated in several meetings and events, including the State High-Level Sanctioning Committee (SHLCC), the annual Independence Day flower show at Lalbaug, and the annual general meeting of the Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
This is the second time that Bommai has tested positive for COVID-19. Earlier on January 10, 2022, Bommai was found positive on the COVID-19 test.
Karnataka recorded 2,042 new Covid-19 cases on Friday. Due to this, the total active cases in the state have gone up to 11,403. Out of 2,042 cases, around 1,309 cases were reported from Bengaluru only. According to the latest government data on Friday, the day's test positivity rate stood at 6.32 percent. With two deaths reported, the total death toll in the state has now reached 40,113.
