The West Bengal panchayat elections and the release of results will be subject to the Calcutta High Court’s final rulings in connection with cases it is currently considering regarding claims of electoral fraud on the day of voting, the court said on Wednesday.

The State Election Commission (SEC), the state government, and the federal government were ordered by the court to provide affidavits that addressed every claim made in the three petitions that alleged irregularities.

The court ordered the SEC to tell all of the candidates who have been deemed elected of this fact.

The petitioners asked for a directive to the SEC to order revoting in almost 50,000 booths, alleging widespread violence and electoral fraud during the panchayat election on July 8.

696 polling places underwent re-voting, and on July 11, voting results started to be tallied.
