Man Arrested from Bareilly for Targeting Arvind Kejriwal in Metro Graffiti

A 33-year-old man from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, was detained by the Delhi Police on Wednesday, according to an official, for reportedly penning anti-Arvind Kejriwal graffiti inside Delhi Metro carriages and at stations.

Ankit Goel has been recognized as the author of the remarks and photos that he uploaded to his Instagram account, the officer added.

The Aam Aadmi Party harshly condemned the graffiti on Monday after several images of it went viral on social media and targeted the chief minister of Delhi.

Soon later, a guy was seen writing on a metro station wall in CCTV footage of the incident that went viral online.

According to the officer, Goel, a loan manager at a government bank in Bareilly, visited Delhi, penned the messages, and then left again. Goel admitted to police that he had previously supported the AAP but that “recent developments” in the party had made him disillusioned, the officer added.

The Instagram account “ankit.goel_91” was used to publish the remarks scrawled on the walls of metro trains and at stops.

One of the notes found inside a metro train said, “Kejriwal departs from Delhi. Dilli Chhor Dijiye.” Please. If not, you will need to recall three slaps that you planted before the election. The genuine, physical punch or slap will arrive shortly. The conference is in Jhandewalan today. Ankit Goel, 91.
