Man Conned Out of Rs. 1 Lakh Under the Pretext of Online Hospital Registration, Charges Filed

According to police, a 30-year-old man was detained on Sunday for allegedly scamming a person by providing a link to his cellphone number that requested payment of the registration fee for a medical visit.

According to them, Raj Gupta, a resident of Loni in Ghaziabad, UP, has been named as the culprit.


Dev Sagar Singh filed a complaint on June 8 against unnamed individuals about an internet scam of Rs 99,999.

He said that he discovered a number online in order to schedule an appointment at a hospital. He called that number, and the person who answered demanded that he provide Rs 10 as a registration fee. Senior police officer: The complainant paid the sum.

Later, the suspect gave Singh another link over WhatsApp, asking him to click it to schedule his meeting. According to the officer, the complainant clicked the link before realizing that Rs 99,999 had been taken out of his account.

The money that was stolen was discovered to have been deposited into Gupta’s account throughout the inquiry. We discovered the registered cellphone number to be inactive. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Manoj C, the accused’s whereabouts were discovered on Wednesday and were found to be in Loni, Ghaziabad.

The DCP said that Gupta was later detained and put into police custody.
