Man Kills Girlfriend by Strangling Her at a Navi Mumbai Hotel; Held

According to authorities, a 35-year-old lady was slain in a hotel room in Navi Mumbai on Tuesday by strangulation, reportedly at the hands of her lover.

The culprit was taken into custody by the Mumbai police early in the morning from his home in the Saki Naka western neighborhood after receiving a tip, according to an official.

He said that the accused, Shoeb Sheikh, 24, had informed the police that he intended to escape to his village after committing a crime.

During questioning, the accused said that on Monday he and his girlfriend Amy, also known as Amit Ravindra Kaur (35), had booked into a hotel in Navi Mumbai, the official stated.

Sheikh reportedly strangled Amy out of wrath because he thought she was having an affair. Then, he said, he departed the motel.

The victim’s corpse was discovered in the room at the hotel after the murder was reported to the Turbhe police, the official said. A team was sent there after the discovery.

According to him, the victim worked as a manager for a private bank and resided in the Sion Koliwada neighborhood.

The officer went on, “Sheikh has been arrested under section 302 (murder) and other applicable provisions of the Indian Penal Code.”
