Man kills himself in Maharashtra and accuses traffic officers of ‘harassment’

Days after being caught driving while intoxicated, a 24-year-old man from Thane, Maharashtra, reportedly committed himself, according to the police on Saturday.

A top police officer refuted Manish Uttekar’s assertion that traffic policemen harassed him in a suicide note that he posted on social media.

An official said that Uttekar hung himself at his house on Friday afternoon. He resided in the Wagle Estate neighborhood of the city.

According to the police, Uttekar, who was studying for competitive tests, requested leniency from the traffic officers in the drunk driving case because he believed it would damage his future.

The official said that when he learned that the police were filing a lawsuit against him, he was evidently upset.

Uttekar blamed “Pushpak and Sudhakar” from the Kopri traffic section in the city, according to the police.

Dr. Vinay Rathod, the deputy commissioner of police, said that since drunken driving charges cannot be compounded, courts must be consulted. There is no chance of someone getting away with anything by paying a fee at the traffic office. Non-compoundable offenses are those in which the victim is unable to reach a settlement with the opposing party and a court trial is required.

The DCP said, “The Kopri facility does not have any employees with the names Pushpak and Sudhakar.

According to the official, a complaint of accidental death has been reported to the Srinagar police.
