Manipur: Rs 14 crore drugs seized in Imphal, preparations to send to Myanmar, 3 smugglers arrested

Police officials on Tuesday seized drugs worth Rs 14 crore from two trucks in the West District of Imphal (Imphal, Manipur), the capital of Manipur, and arrested three people in this connection. It is being told that there was a plan to send this consignment of drugs to Myanmar. Superintendent of Police of Imphal West District K.K. Meghchandra said, "A police team, based on secret information, nabbed two trucks from near Kanglatongbi-Shantipur area and recovered a banned WY tablet of Rs 14 crore from it.
Commonly among those who use WY Tablet, it is known as 'World is Yours ' and is M ethamphetamine Tablet , which contains methamphetamine and caffeine. Megchandra said, "Drugs went feared was brought from Assam and the fact that it neighbors Burma ( Myanmar had to be smuggled into the international market through). Complete information about the trade of drugs will be obtained only after interrogation of the three arrested people. ”
All three accused are residents of Manipur
Police said that when the trucks were searched, it was seen that the packets of drugs were hidden in the bonnet of the trucks. The three accused have been arrested under sections of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Indian Penal Code (IPC). All three are residents of Manipur. Increasing youth addiction to narcotics has become a major concern in many areas of Manipur.
Earlier in December last year, the Assam Rifles, Manipur Police and Narcotics Control Bureau raided two places in the border town of More, brought from Myanmar and seized drugs worth about Rs 165 crore. Two Myanmar and four drug traffickers from India were also arrested in this case. Even before this, 582 kg of smuggled drugs were seized from Myanmar in three different operations from October 28, 2020, valued at around Rs 2,320 crore.
