Manish Sisodia, the AAP leader incarcerated, returns home to see his ailing wife

Manish Sisodia, a prominent politician of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and a former deputy chief minister of Delhi, visited his unwell wife Seema at home on Saturday.

On Friday, a Delhi court gave him permission to see his wife in the presence of security from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

AAP leader Sisodia is being held in jail by the courts at Tihar Jail in relation to a case involving the purported excise policy fraud.

He was driven by police to his residence on Mathura Road in a jail vehicle, according to HT.

Sisodia had previously asked for permission to spend five days with his wife.

The applicant states that his wife had an acute onset of multiple sclerosis, an autoimmune disease affecting the central nervous system. Delhi Rouse Avenue Court gave permission for a seven-hour meeting but stipulated that Sisodia may not interact with the media or participate in any political activities.

Sisodia was initially permitted to see his wife in June, but he was unable to do so because she was sent to the hospital after an abrupt decline in her health.

Before being detained by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in February and then again by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in two separate instances pertaining to the purported liquor policy scam, he was both the deputy chief minister and the owner of the excise department ministry.

In its charge sheet, the ED claims that Manish Sisodia, the current accused, was responsible for the generation of around Rs 622 crore in criminal gains.
