He said that due to Sherwani, there was a delay in the attack of Pakistan raiders in Baramulla in 1947. The Pakistani attackers had asked Sherwani, a resident of Baramulla, to take them to the road to the Srinagar airport, but Sherwani misled them, due to which they were delayed in reaching the airport and the Indian Army had time to reach the airfield and secure it. found it. Angered by this, the attackers later killed Sherwani.
A statement said Sinha paid tribute to Sherwani, the 'Lion of Baramulla' and the brave soldiers of the Sikh Regiment, who made the supreme sacrifice to save the lives of thousands of Kashmiris and thwarted the attack by Pakistani army raiders.
