March 16 court date for Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal after a new ED allegation

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was summoned by a Delhi court on Thursday in response to a new accusation from the Enforcement Department (ED) that he had disregarded its summonses in a money laundering case involving purported excise fraud.

Kejriwal was ordered by Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Divya Malhotra to come into court on March 16.

On Wednesday, the Enforcement Directorate filed a complaint with the court asking for Kejriwal to be prosecuted for allegedly ignoring many summonses that were sent to him about the matter.

The newest charge, according to the ED, concerns the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party’s failure to comply with summonses number 4 through 8 issued by the federal investigate agency in accordance with Section 50 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

In a previous court filing, the ED requested Kejriwal’s prosecution for failing to appear at the first three summonses he received in connection with the now-cancelled Delhi excise policy and money laundering case.
