Delhi, New York: The Indian embassy in New York said on Tuesday that Mohammad Abdul Arfath, a 25-year-old Hyderabadi student who vanished a month ago, had been discovered dead in the United States.

After moving to the US in 2023 to pursue a master’s degree at Cleveland State University, Mohammed Abdul Arfath vanished for about three weeks. The embassy had previously said that it was in communication with Abdul’s family and was assisting local law enforcement in their efforts to find him. He was discovered deceased, the embassy reported this morning.

“I was devastated to hear that Mr. Mohammed Abdul Arfath, for whom a search was conducted, had been discovered deceased in Cleveland, Ohio. We offer our sincere condolences to the family of Mr. Mohammed Arfath,” the Indian Embassy in New York tweeted.
