Mumbai. Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said on Tuesday that so far more than one crore people have benefited from the state government's 'Shiva food' Thali scheme. This scheme was started in January this year and food is being made available to the poor for 10 rupees. Thackeray said in a statement that in view of the lockdown (bandh) implemented in view of Corona virus infection, students, homeless people and trapped laborers were given a plate for five rupees and many common citizens also benefitted from the scheme.
He said that there are 848 Shiva food centers in the state and the scheme is being implemented at the taluka level as well. The Chief Minister said, "The scheme was started on 26 January with the goal of benefiting the poor and the underprivileged and so far 1,00,00,870 plates have been served to the people." This scheme is proving to be a boon for the poor.
