“Nari Shakti”: Khan Market, Shraddhanand Marg in Delhi will soon have two brand-new all-woman police stations

Two All-Women Police Posts (AWPPs) in Khan Market and Shraddhanand Marg were opened on Sunday by Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora and Delhi L-G VK Saxena. The Kamla Market police station in the central district would be in charge of the AWPP at Shraddhanand Marg, while Tughlak Road police station would have authority over the other one.

The Khan Market Police Post is now led by Sub Inspector Puja Saini, who has nine subordinate female officers working with her. Since its establishment in 2016, the Khan Market Police Post has played a crucial role in upholding peace and order in this vibrant area. Sub Inspector Kiran Sethi will be in charge of the Shraddhanand Marg Police Post.

According to the L-G, female victims will now feel comfortable to discuss their issues with female cops, and the force will make sure that a solution is found right away. After an all-female squad was chosen as the finest marching contingent at this year’s Republic Day parade, he instructed the Delhi Police to set up AWPPs.

The L-G said that such police postings are urgently needed and that women now make up 15.17% of the Delhi Police. “We remain committed to increasing the strength of women in the police force to 33% as soon as possible,” the L-G added, citing the goal of “Nari Shakti.”

The authorities claim that the establishment of AWPPs signals the beginning of a new era in inclusive and effective policing.
