Nobody can block Matuas from obtaining citizenship, according to Shah

Amit Shah, the union’s home minister, said on Tuesday that the Citizenship (Amendment) Act was connected to Mamata Banerjee’s “vote bank politics.”

The residents of the Matua settlement were reassured by Shah that they will get citizenship. The Matuas are a minor group of Hindus who came to India after the Partition and after Bangladesh was created as a result of religious persecution. They were originally from what was then East Pakistan.

The All India Matua Mahasangha has recommended its members to refrain from filing citizenship applications owing to lack of requisite paperwork confirming their past residence location in Bangladesh, which has put a hole in the Matua community’s initial joy over the adoption of CAA laws.

While supporting Shantanu Thakur, the BJP’s candidate for Bongaon, Shah said that Mamata would not be able to halt the CAA’s implementation since the issue is with the Center.

If minorities from three nearby Islamic countries left because of religious persecution, the CAA will assist them in expediting the application procedure for Indian citizenship.

Didi is not telling the truth. Nobody will experience any issues (caused by CAA). Citizenship will be granted to everybody. “PM Modi has guaranteed this,” Shah said at a Bongaon rally. Didi engages in nothing but vote-bank politics. She converts unlawful infiltrators into citizens. In Bongaon, the CAA is anticipated to be the most significant electoral topic. Illegal immigration must end,” said Shah.

Nothing in the world, he said, could prevent “my refugee brothers” from obtaining Indian citizenship. This is what Modi ji has promised. Mamata Banerjee has to keep in mind that the federal government, not the state governments, is the only entity with jurisdiction over citizenship, he added.

“Mamata is lying when she says that applying for citizenship via the CAA would be difficult. I’ve come to reassure the residents of Matua that there won’t be any problems for anybody. You’ll be granted citizenship and allowed to live in the nation with dignity,” he said.

Shah said that by helping the BJP win 270 seats out of the 380 seats—including 18 in West Bengal—that were up for election in the four seven-phase elections, PM Modi had already secured a majority. “We need to push past the 400-seat threshold,” he said.

“Majority mark was reached.”

Home Minister Amit Shah said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already secured a majority by ensuring the BJP wins 270 seats out of the 380 seats, including 18 in West Bengal, that were up for election in each of the four seven-phase elections. “We need to push past the 400-seat threshold,” he said. He said that because the Central government is involved, Mamata would not be able to halt the CAA’s implementation. I’ve come to reassure the residents of Matua that there won’t be any problems for anybody. You’ll be granted citizenship and permitted to live in the nation with dignity,” he said.
