With a record 10,521 new cases of corona virus infection coming up in Odisha on Thursday, the total number of infected has crossed 5 lakh to 5,00,162, while 17 patients of Kovid-19 died in the state due to the epidemic. The number of people increased to 2121.
A senior official of the health department gave this information. In new cases, 5,945 cases have come from various segregation centers while the remaining cases have increased through contact. Khurda district is worst affected by Corona where maximum 1477 new cases have been reported. After this, 1186 cases have been reported in Sundargarh and 963 in Cuttack.
Corona infection rate in the state 4.82
The rate of corona infection in the state has increased to 4.82 percent. The health department also informed about 17 deaths of Kovid-19 on Twitter during treatment. Kovid-19 has the highest number of deaths of four people in Khurda district. After this, two patients each died in Balasore and Malkangiri while one patient each of Corona died in Boudh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Kalahandi, Nayagarh, Raigad, Sambalpur and Sundargarh.
Apart from this, 53 such people infected with Corona were also killed who were suffering from serious diseases. There are currently 81,585 undertreatment patients of Corona in Odisha while 4,16,403 patients have defeated this deadly virus. So far more than 1.03 crore samples have been corona tested out of which 48,314 samples were tested on Wednesday.
Two-week lockdown imposed in the state
Meanwhile, AIIMS sources in the capital Bhubaneswar said that the condition of the opposition leader of the Corona-infected PK Naik remains critical. A team of senior doctors is treating 54-year-old Bharatiya Janata Party leader Naik.
