Patiala man charged for 589-gm opium package to New Zealand

A resident of Patiala has been arrested by the police for reportedly attempting to use a courier to transport 589 grams of opium to a person in New Zealand. Information indicated that the suspect had concealed the opium inside the package within two packets of cream.

Employees of the courier business saw anything unusual while scanning the box on Wednesday, and they notified the State Narcotics Control Bureau. Upon opening the box, 589 grams of opium were found inside.

Virender Singh, a security investigation officer for a courier business in the Udyog Vihar region, was inspecting packages when he thought there could be anything unusual in one of them, according to ASI Sandeep Kumar of the Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau. The package was then opened after Narcotics Control Bureau representatives were contacted.

“Among other things, like clothing, there were two Nivea cream packs in the package. I discovered 589 grams of recovered opium when I opened the Nivea cream packets. Upon examining the parcel’s data, it was discovered that Mandeep Singh, a resident of Karhali village in the Patiala area, was the sender. The complaint said that it was supposed to be shipped to Kuldeep Singh in New Zealand. A complaint was filed under the NDPS Act.
