Phase I: 24 out of 28 Assembly seats will go to BJD: VK Pandian

Senior BJD leader VK Pandian, who is leading the party campaign, said they are winning at least 24 of the 28 Assembly seats and had a much stronger showing in the first round of the Lok Sabha elections, one day after the first round of voting in Odisha.

In addition to phase I, the BJD is expected to win every seat in Odisha due to a surge of support for Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Whether it be the first, second, third, or fourth round of voting, BJD will win handily. Specifically, BJD will get at least 24 seats in the first round, according to the regional organization’s senior strategist.

In the first phase of elections, which took place on Monday, there were elections for 28 Assembly segments and four Lok Sabha seats, namely Berhampur, Koraput, Nabarangpur, and Kalahandi. In 2019, the party secured 20 of the 28 Assembly seats and both of the Lok Sabha seats that were up for election in the first round.

Pandian dismissed the opponents, saying that the race was limited to one seat with the BJP and two seats with the Congress. On the four Lok Sabha seats, however, he made no predictions. Compared to 2019, he predicted that BJD will do much better in the Lok Sabha elections. He said, “Lok Sabha is too huge to predict.”

The effect of the roadshows and electoral meetings led by the BJP’s top brass, which includes national president JP Nadda, union home minister Amit Shah, defense minister Rajnath Singh, and prime minister Narendra Modi, will only be revealed on June 4, the day of the vote tallying, according to Pandian.

It is very humble to see the love and devotion that people have for BJD and its president, Naveen Patnaik. It really boosts our confidence. We are strengthened to fight for the cause of Odisha by the people who come and wait for hours in the sweltering heat,” he added.
