PM pledged to respect the Sikh community, according to Bittu

The BJP candidate for Ludhiana, Ravneet Singh Bittu, said today that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was dedicated to respecting the Sikh community. He is very mindful of minority populations’ interests.

According to him, the Prime Minister always remembers to offer prayers at Sikh temples, both on significant events and on regular days. Throughout his lengthy time in the state, he gained respect for the Sikh community and the Sikh Gurus, demonstrating his sincere devotion to them. Modi has consistently praised Sikhs for their bravery, secularism, honesty, and commitment to the liberation movement.

Bittu said that it was imperative to elucidate the Prime Minister’s perspective during his visit to Punjab.

The head of the BJP said that while some people were portraying Modi as anti-minority, this was completely untrue.

He claimed to have discussed his ideas on Punjab and the Sikh community with Modi and to have found him to be particular in his treatment of the group.

He said that the past administrations had failed to open the Kartarpur Sahib corridor, but the PM has. He removed GST on food goods used in langars, or communal kitchens, at gurdwaras and other places of religious worship. He observed Veer Bal Divas and Guru Nanak Dev’s 550th Parkash Utsav on a countrywide scale.

The BJP candidate went on to say that Modi protected the rights of Sikhs who had moved from Afghanistan and were living in Kashmir. In order to allow legitimate Sikhs to go to their motherland, a “blacklist” of Sikhs compiled by earlier Congress administrations was examined and many names were removed under the Modi administration. The prime minister promoted connectivity with the diaspora and built state airports to facilitate the easy travel of non-resident Indians.

Bittu stated that the Sikh community should pay him back with the same currency and vote for the BJP in order for him to reach his goal of winning 400 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. Bittu claimed that the Modi-led Central Government had reopened several cases of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and that many Congress leaders, including Sajjan Kumar, were found guilty as a result of proper follow-up of cases.
