Police said the violence in Rajouri was not communal

The Rajouri police have denied claims of intercommunal violence in the district’s Galhan region, where individuals got into a fight with one another.

According to a Rajouri police spokeswoman, a verbal battle broke out in the Galhan region of Teryath tehsil in the Rajouri district because of an ongoing dispute over a way.

A few individuals got into a physical altercation during a verbal war, resulting in a guy suffering minor injuries. Elders from the community and the police stepped in right away to diffuse the situation. Following the event, people from all walks of life came to a meeting where they pledged to uphold law and order, according to the spokeswoman.

In the midst of all of this, he said, some individuals uploaded messages on social media about people being stopped and abused while traveling to conduct Eid prayers. “But this assertion is completely unfounded, and the conflict over a path has turned into a social issue,” he added.

Police have issued a warning to the public not to share these kinds of social media postings and have threatened to take stern legal action against anybody who tries to incite communal strife in an effort to disturb the calm.
