Porsche collision: Pune police drops preferential treatment allegations; mother of the child requests assistance

Amitesh Kumar, the commissioner of Pune Police, said on Friday that the little child who is suspected of mowing down two IT workers in Maharashtra did not get special care.

Speaking during a news conference, he refuted claims that the 17-year-old boy—the son of a real estate developer—was fed “pizzas and burgers” while being held in detention after the May 19 incident.

The youngster is charged with murdering Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta in Kalyaninagar, Pune, by smashing his Porsche into a motorcycle.

However, the teen’s family has claimed that their driver was at fault for the collision.

The 17-year-old boy’s grandpa and a close friend were questioned by the criminal branch officers on Thursday.

In a statement to the police, the driver—who works for the family of the youngster involved in the collision—said that the adolescent was demanding to drive and that he had to phone the father to let him know about it.

The driver informed the police that the minor’s father, a well-known builder, urged him to allow the youngster to drive the automobile.

The driver and the buddy of the accused youngster were in the vehicle with him when the deadly collision occurred, according to the police.

In the meanwhile, the minor’s mother released a video in which she is heard sobbing, begging for assistance, and requesting that her son not be punished by the authorities. She also called out as phony an additional viral video that allegedly featured her son bragging about getting away with the act.

On Thursday, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis was questioned about the event by NCP leader and Baramati MP Supriya Sule. She insisted that Fadnavis divulge who attempted to coerce the police and how the youngster was granted bail.

Sule also said she was taken aback by Devendra Fadnavis’s remarks on the tragedy and his “rushing” to Pune. “Fadnavis informed reporters that political pressure shouldn’t be used on the police. In such investigations, the police might be pressured by individuals in positions of authority, I want to inform him. She told a news source, “My question to Fadnavis is who put pressure on the police and how the kid got bail after such a horrible crime.”

In a contentious decision, the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) released the minor on bond, contingent on his writing a 300-word essay about the “effect of road accidents and the solution,” researching traffic laws, giving a presentation on the subject, and helping future accident victims, should he witness any.

The JJB revoked the bail on Thursday, citing the swift action and the ensuing national outcry. As per the JJB’s directive, the youngster has been placed in an observation home until June 5.

According to Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, the youngster may now be tried as an adult. He said this in a review plea that was submitted to the JJB. Additionally, the Pune Police requested that the kid be placed in a custody home.

In addition, the sessions court remanded two staff members of the Hotel Black Club, where the youngster was allegedly intoxicated before to the accident, in addition to the kid’s father.

According to a senior police officer, a FIR has also been filed against the youngster under sections 279 (rash driving), 304 A (causing death by carelessness), and 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Motor Vehicles Act.
