Rahul Gandhi invites reporters during a news conference to raise their hands whether they are Dalit or OBC

Rahul Gandhi, the head of the Congress, reiterated his claim that the oppressed did not get their due part of the nation’s riches and institutions on Monday by asking journalists to raise their hands whether they were Dalits or from the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) at a press conference.
At the press conference that followed the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting at this location, the former president of the Congress questioned, “How many Dalits are present in this room? How many OBCs are there in the room, raise your hands…
Rahul Gandhi said, “Congress is asking what the share of Dalits, tribals, and other backward classes (OBCs) is in the country’s assets, institutions, and population.”

To ask a question is essential. What will be done with the data has not yet been considered; I am only posing a question. However, we are posing a historical question: What percentage of the population does the OBC class, the Dalit class, the Adivasi population, and the other population receive? The future economic and political models will be built on this subject, thus it is a historical one, he added.

Gandhi said that PM Modi’s intention is to divert the public’s attention.

“PM’s goal is to divert… He will continue to raise several diversionary issues in the future. This (the caste census) is a judgment based on fairness rather than politics. No political considerations exist, he insisted.

According to the Congress leader, the Congress Working Committee (CWC) fully endorsed and hailed the notion of a caste census as a “progressive and powerful step” for the nation.

He said that the Chief Ministers of Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, and Chhattisgarh concur that it is a crucial move.
