Rahul pledges free education from kindergarten through post-graduation in the Chhattisgarh elections

During a rally in Kondagaon, Chhattisgarh, on Saturday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi made a number of pledges, including assistance for different segments of society and free education.
Ahead of the state assembly elections, Gandhi announced a proposal to provide free education at government-run educational institutions in Chhattisgarh, ranging from kindergarten (KG) to post-graduate (PG). He made this announcement while addressing a Jansabha in the Bhanupratappur assembly constituency.

One of the 20 seats up for election in the first round of the Chhattisgarh elections is the Bhanupratappur constituency. The polls are scheduled for November 7.

“We are starting a major project that we are calling ‘KG to PG.’ Free education would be provided to pupils at government institutions from kindergarten through post-graduation, according to Gandhi.

In addition, he promised that if Congress won the next assembly elections, it would raise the minimum support price for other minor forest output by Rs. 10 and increase the price of tendu patta (beedi leaves) to Rs. 4,000 per under the Rajiv Gandhi Protsahan Yojana.

In the tribal-dominated Bastar area, where gathering tendu leaves is a key source of income, the rise in the direct monetary benefit to tendu leaf collectors is quite significant.

Gandhi questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s position on doing a caste census while speaking to the assembly.

“Why is PM Modi reluctant to implement a caste census since he often discusses the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in his speeches? We would make sure that a caste census is carried out nationwide if the Congress wins control of the federal government,” he said.

Gandhi took aim at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming that the party serves the interests of a small number of businessmen. Conversely, he said, “The Congress gives farmers, Dalits, laborers, and Adivasis priority.”

He emphasized language and identity even more, criticizing the BJP for calling tribal people “vanvasi” rather than “Adivasi.” This, according to him, is a “attack on their culture, history, and language” and a “insult to Adivasis.”

In response to Gandhi’s address, Ajay Chandarkar, the main spokesman for the BJP, said, “Congress is known for its false promises.” They pledged to provide free education up to the 12th grade during the most recent elections, but nothing has changed.

Rahul Gandhi need to start by going over the prior commitments made by his administration. He said that Congress is deceiving the people of the state.
