Rahul visits Bastar and declares that Congress would carry out a caste study

Rahul Gandhi, the head of the Congress, said on Saturday that the Lok Sabha elections are an ideological struggle to save democracy and the Constitution.

Gandhi said at a polling place in Bastar, one of the four reserved tribal seats in Chhattisgarh, “The Congress remains firm to protect it along with other democratic forces. The Modi-led regime and the RSS are aiming to knock down the Constitution.”

Rahul Gandhi attacked the BJP for referring to the “adivasi” as “vanvasi,” pointing out how the Congress introduced the Panchayat Extension to Scheduled Areas Act to protect tribal rights, the anti-poverty program MGNREGA, tribal rights, and land acquisition measures.

The statement vanvasi, he added, “is also an attack on their culture, history, beliefs, and rights. The BJP discredits tribal communities. We call them adivasi, which signifies the original inhabitants with rights over jal, jungle, and zameen.” Congress wants to provide the rights that you (tribals) deserve.

Gandhi said that the Congress would carry out a caste census if it were elected to power.

“We will begin hiring for thirty lakh open government positions and launching youth apprenticeship programs.” Teens will have the option to complete an apprenticeship before beginning employment. He pledged to do away with contractual hiring in government agencies and to eliminate crop debts. “All educated youth will receive a one-year apprenticeship in government or private companies, along with an annual stipend of Rs. 1 lakh,” he said.
