Rajasthan: An MBBS student is detained among five others after appearing in NEET as a proxy candidate

In Bharatpur, Rajasthan, an MBBS student who took the medical entrance test on Sunday instead of a NEET applicant was arrested along with five other people, the candidate included, according to police. According to their preliminary inquiry, Abhishek Gupta, a student at a government college, was involved in a scam headed by his collegemate, Ravi Meena, who was accused of stealing Rs 10 lakh from Rahul Gurjar, the candidate.

“Abhishek was caught posing as Rahul Gurjar at an examination center. The invigilator turned him over to the police based on suspicion. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Aklesh Kumar said, “He told police he was with five people when he was first questioned.” He said that his colleagues were seated in a vehicle outside the Master Adityendra School testing facility, which is located beneath the Mathura Gate police station. The ASP said that all of the accused are being questioned and that further action would be taken when it was appropriate.

Police said that those in custody were Amit, Dayaram, and Suraj Singh, in addition to Gupta, Meena, and Gurjar. At the same time, several test takers for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-UUndergraduate (NEET-UG) at a Sawai Madhopur center reported receiving question papers in Hindi and vice versa for those who had selected English as their language of choice.

The parents of the candidates said that when they protested, the cops beat them. Subsequently, the National Testing Agency (NTA) disclosed to the public that they had discovered an instance of the center supervisor distributing question papers “incorrectly.”

“The NTA has taken proactive steps to uphold the principles of fairness and equal opportunity for all candidates.” In order to ensure that this occurrence does not impede the academic objectives of the roughly 120 impacted students, an examination is being performed at the center today, according to Sadhna Parashar, Senior Director, NTA.
